Hunter Valley Hydrogen Hub
Our renewable hydrogen project at Kooragang Island supports decarbonisation across the Hunter region, sustains local jobs and helps grow Australia’s hydrogen economy.

Operations
Our facilities at Kooragang Island comprise an ammonia plant, three nitric acid plants, two ammonium nitrate plants and a product dispatch facility.

Community
Since 2013, Orica’s community investment program has provided more than $3 million in funding to local charities, sporting groups, schools and not‑for‑profit organisations in Newcastle and the broader region.

Emergency response
Kooragang Island operates under a formal Emergency Response Plan that covers onsite, local and offsite emergencies in conjunction with regulators and emergency services, including Fire and Rescue NSW.
