Sustainability

Our approach to sustainability

Sustainability shapes how we operate and grow. It is embedded in our policies and strategy, guiding how we pursue opportunities, meet our commitments, and improve our performance. Our approach to sustainability enables long‑term value creation by helping customers decarbonise, strengthening our resilience in a lower‑carbon economy, meeting society’s expectations, and progressing our ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Sustainability is central to our corporate strategy and business model, enabling us to create long‑term value for all stakeholders by delivering strong returns, remaining relevant to our customers, meeting society’s expectations, and advancing our ambition to achieve net zero emissions by 2050.

Delivering real progress on sustainability

In a hard‑to‑abate industry, we are reducing emissions, advancing safer and more responsible operations, and developing solutions that help our customers lower their environmental impact. Our focus is on people, communities and the environment as we build a safer and more sustainable future.

Strong governance and accountability

Sustainability governance is embedded across the organisation. Oversight is provided at Board level through the Safety and Sustainability Committee, with executive accountability led by the President – Australia Pacific and Sustainability, who is responsible for developing and overseeing Orica’s sustainability and climate change strategy.
