Delivering superior blasting performance and downstream cost savings.

The Vistis™ Bulk System is a high-energy range of sensitised, pumped emulsion blends designed for wet blasthole applications. Capable of delivering up to three and a half times the detonation pressure of ANFO, Vistis™ optimises fragmentation, reduces milling costs, and enables drill pattern expansion for significant operational savings. Available in multiple energy levels to suit varying ground conditions and blast objectives.

For dry and dewatered blasthole applications, see Orica's Vistan™ range.

Vistis range

Vistis

Vistis™ is a high‑energy, pumped bulk emulsion designed for wet, dry and dewatered blast holes in surface mining applications.

Delivering up to 3.5 times the detonation pressure of ANFO, it enables improved fragmentation, pattern expansion and reduced drilling and comminution costs. Available in multiple energy strengths, Vistis™ provides flexible, reliable performance where water presence demands a pumped solution.

Vistis i

Vistis™ i builds on the performance of Vistis™, with a reactive‑ground‑inhibited formulation for wet or variable hole conditions.

Designed for safe, high‑energy blasting in reactive ground, it delivers improved fragmentation and operational efficiency while managing reactive ground risk. Vistis™ i is the pumped emulsion solution where both water and ground reactivity must be controlled.

Vistis s

Vistan™ s is a high‑energy, augered bulk emulsion optimised for dry or dewatered blast holes requiring higher shock energy.

As part of Orica’s dry hole product range, it provides powerful fragmentation and supports pattern expansion to lower drilling and blasting costs. With a broad energy range, Vistan™ s is suited to operations seeking enhanced performance in dewatered conditions.

Vistis si

Vistan™ si is a reactive‑ground‑safe, augered bulk emulsion engineered for dry or dewatered blast holes in reactive ground. Incorporating specialised inhibitors, it enables safer high‑energy blasting while maintaining strong fragmentation and productivity benefits.

Vistan™si is the preferred dry‑hole solution when reactive ground conditions must be carefully managed.

Further insights

Common questions about the Vistis range

What makes Vistis™ different from ANFO?

Vistis™ delivers up to 3.5 times the detonation pressure and significantly higher energy, optimising fragmentation and reducing downstream costs.

Can Vistis™ be used in reactive ground?

No. Vistis™ cannot be used in reactive ground.

Vistis™ is designed for wet, dry and dewatered blast holes but is not suitable for ground containing reactive sulphides. Using Vistis™ in reactive ground may create unsafe conditions and increase the risk of undesirable post‑blast fume. For reactive ground applications, Orica recommends Vistis™ i, which is specifically formulated with inhibitors to enable safe, high‑energy blasting in reactive ground while delivering reliable performance in wet hole conditions.

When should I choose Vistis™ i instead of Vistis™?
Choose Vistis™ i instead of Vistis™ when blasting in reactive ground, as Vistis™ i is specifically formulated with inhibitors to enable safe use in reactive sulphide conditions.

Does Vistis™ help reduce overall mining costs?
Yes. The higher energy and improved fragmentation achieved with Vistis™ can support pattern expansion, reduced drilling requirements, improved load‑and‑haul efficiency, and lower milling and comminution costs.

What primers and initiation systems are recommended with Vistis™?
Vistis™ should be primed with Pentex™ H boosters for hole diameters up to 102 mm, or Pentex™ GL boosters for larger diameters, used in conjunction with Exel™, uni tronic™ 600 or i‑kon™ detonators.

What is the maximum recommended sleep time for Vistis™?
The recommended maximum sleep time for Vistis™ is up to 21 days, depending on hole diameter, density, groundwater conditions and initiation system.

What is the minimum blast hole diameter for Vistis™?
Vistis™ can be used in blast holes with a minimum diameter of 90 mm, depending on site conditions and design requirements.

Is Vistis™ suitable for high‑temperature ground conditions?
Yes. Vistis™ is suitable for use in ground temperatures ranging from 0°C to 55°C. Applications outside this range should be reviewed with an Orica Technical Representative.
