Features and benefits

Optimised PETN core load

Cordtex™ detonating cords feature a precisely engineered PETN explosive core, designed to minimise damage to in-hole explosives prior to initiation. This ensures consistent energy transfer and reliable blast performance across varying hole conditions.

High tensile strength

With a nominal tensile strength of up to 70 kgf, Cordtex™ cords withstand significant forces in vertical blast holes and during handling. This strength reduces the risk of cord breakage in demanding applications such as deep-hole blasting.

Excellent flexibility and knot holding

Cordtex™ products maintain superior flexibility, allowing secure knots such as reef knots and clove hitches for trunkline and downline connections. This flexibility ensures positive initiation and reduces the likelihood of misfires caused by poor contact.

Heat resistance for hot ground applications

Cordtex™ Pyrocord is specifically designed for high-temperature environments, maintaining stability up to 100ºC for up to 8 hours. This makes it ideal for blasting in reactive or hot ground conditions where standard cords may fail.

Lightweight packaging and dual labelling

Cordtex™ cords are supplied on chipboard spools with dual labelling for easy identification and compliance. Each case contains two spools (350 m each), weighing approximately 16 kg, with 7 kg of explosive content for efficient storage and handling.

High velocity of detonation

Cordtex™ cords deliver a nominal detonation velocity of 6.5–7.0 km/s, ensuring rapid and reliable initiation of boosters and trunklines. This technical performance supports precise blast timing and improved fragmentation outcomes.
