Blasting Solutions

Flexigel

Flexible blasting solutions for surface coal and metal mines.

content-intro-logo

Tailored density and performance for wet, dry and dewatered blast holes.

Flexigel™ is a range of augered or pumped bulk explosives designed for surface coal and metal mines. It offers variable density and water resistance, making it ideal for dry, dewatered and wet blast holes.

Flexigel™ can act as a substitute for ANFO in soft, wet ground where high bulk strength is not required but good water resistance and energy distribution is essential.

Flexigel™ helps control vibration, airblast and fume risk while improving wall control and fragmentation.

Available exclusively in Latin America and Asia.

Features and benefits

Compatibility with Orica systems

Works seamlessly with Fortis™ and Fortan™ products to deliver improved blasting results across the full blasthole column.

Efficient onsite delivery

Manufactured and pumped on demand using Orica’s Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU), ensuring timely supply and reduced downtime.

Airblast control

Tailored energy distribution helps minimise airblast, supporting safer blasting outcomes near sensitive infrastructure and operational boundaries.

Vibration control

Reduced energy density in selected blastholes helps manage ground vibration, particularly when blasting adjacent to final walls.

Fume risk reduction

Designed for reactive and fume-prone ground, Flexigel™ supports improved fume management compared with traditional ANFO alternatives.

Improved excavation productivity

Optimised energy placement improves fragmentation, particularly in the stemming zone, supporting more efficient downstream excavation.

Final wall control

Lower energy loading near final walls reduces damage and improves wall profiles where small diameter blasting is not practical.

Reduced drill and blast costs

Flexible loading through existing Orica MMUs improves blast efficiency and reduces rework, supporting lower overall drill and blast costs

Flexible density control

Adjust explosive density within a single blasthole loading pass to match ground conditions and optimise energy distribution.

Flexigel range

Flexigel Advantage

Perfect for soft ground in hard rock lining, complementing Fortis™ and Fortan™ Advantage ranges. Provides low-cost, water-resistant blends for metalliferous blasting.

Flexigel Coal

Specially formulated for soft ground typically found in coal mines, ensuring reliable performance in wet conditions.

Flexigel Clear

Engineered for fume risk reduction in sensitive blasting environments.

Flexigel Eclipse

Optimised for high-energy applications requiring superior fragmentation and control.

Flexigel Control

Offers the greatest range of bulk explosive densities for wet, dewatered and dry blastholes. Can be used alone or with Fortis™ and Fortan™ for vibration reduction and cautious blasting near final walls.

Flexigel Extra

Designed for general blasting applications, delivering consistent performance in standard wet and dry blastholes. Flexigel™ Extra-i is ideal for improved initiation and energy distribution in challenging conditions.
