ORBS™ is Orica’s latest generation centralised electronic blasting system, designed to initiate multiple development headings or production blasts remotely. 

Compatible with i-kon™ II/III and eDev™ II detonators, ORBS™ allows safe, browser-based control from a central location, reducing exposure and improving productivity. 

The system integrates with existing mine communications and Blaster 3000 architecture, eliminating the need for specialised infrastructure. 

ORBS™ supports both electronic and non-electric blasts in a single event, offering unmatched flexibility and control.

Implementing ORBS™

The new setup with ORBS™ has led to several operational improvements. A clear example is the reduced need for manual maintenance in mining areas.

Previously, we had to expand the wireless network and install/extend sliding cables in the production areas. With ORBS, it’s now sufficient to reinforce the wireless network coverage—a routine task already included in daily operations.
